Great trip addition for Scotland

Planning a golf trip to Scotland, this is a great book to assist with that. The book is a bit dated and some of the lesser known hotels may not still be in business, however this will give you an idea about the areas, courses and what to expect. A perfect addition to a trip to Scotland. He also details many suggested trips and courses to play, going through each and offering helpful tips for everything, what town to stay in, and even discusses course history. Overall I would definitely recommend this book to aid in the planning of your "Golf" trip to Scotland.

Great book for Golf in Scotland

For anyone who wants to play golf in Scotland, this is the book for you. Everything you wanted to know about golf in Scotland - and more. It has about a page or two of information about each of 74 great courses in Scotland. There is a special chapter about golf at St. Andrews. Also includes info on golf club rental which is very useful for folks who don't want to lug their clubs from the US and pay the extra baggage fees. Also tips about when to go and where to stay. If you want to golf in Scotland, this book is invaluable.

No better way to start your Scotland golf trip

My only reget about this book is that I didn't find it sooner. Those who call Allan ``the Rick Steves of Scottish golf'' are right on the money. Speaking of which, merely by booking our car through Allan, we saved hundreds (thousands if you include the two other cars our friends booked) and we got great vehicles. The reviews nail the golf courses. They give an idea of what to expect, and help you choose. ``Golf in Scotland'' is loaded with information about where to stay and play, and how to get the most out of your trip. His discussion of how to play the Old Course, and how to book other courses, with prices etc., is invaluable. Can't wait to start planning our next Scottish excursion, with Allan's book as our guide.
