Awesome book

4th grade teacher and huge Gordon Korman fan. I read this aloud to my class, and they loved it (most agreed it was their favorite read aloud this year). It is told from multiple perspectives, suspenseful, adventurous, descriptive, and has well developed, likable characters. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

My son (6th grade) and I both read this so we could chat and share our experience along the way. What a GREAT read!! Can't wait for the sequel and love that we had so many interesting conversations based on the ideas presented. Wonderful book, I'd highly recommend it!!

An excellent cliff hanger

Masterminds is an engaging, well-written page turner. I can imagine it appealing to many readers in the YA category. I wuld have given it five stars if it had been a complete story with a sequel rather than a cliff hanger. I recognize the cliff hanger genre is very popular among YA readers, but I prefer a complete presentation in one book. That said, I would have no trouble recommending this book to the 6 - 8th graders in the school where I volunteer. And I did order the next book.

UNBELIEVABLE!

This is my first and last sewing book that I will buy. I have been spending 3 weeks deciding which book to purchase. I haven't sewn in over 30 years on a machine, so I wanted a modern book and to very simply detailed as not to be intimidating. This book caught my attention at JoAnn's. and now I consider Sewing Basics to be a treasure to own. The information is just perfectly written and detailed without being overwhelming. The pictures are amazingly helpful. The book details every sewing concern with complete factual instructions. I am so pleased that I found the best sewing book for me and every beginner, and every sewer (period). This is a great price for an unbelievable reference and instructional sewing basics book. Love it and you will too! It is very inviting, not boring, so I am going to start reading it now.

Great Details for a Novice Seamstress

I picked up Sewing Basics, assuming that it would be able to guide me through some sewing projects that I have been needing to do (sew a button hole, modify a dress neckline), and was hoping for some inspiration as well. Sewing Basics is packed with details and great photographs guiding readers through all sorts of stages - from working with patterns to sewing pockets, and from working with elastic to attaching fastenings to garments. Unfortunately, however, this book is still a bit over my head. Rather than including step-by-step photos, the book is text heavy with a number of photos per project, leaving me (a beginning sewer) to guess what happened in between. If you have some sewing experience, you should be find because the steps are pretty intuitive if you have experience. For a beginner like me, however, I need a bit more hand holding than this book was able to provide.
The depth and breadth of this book is impressive, regardless of whether I was actually able to glean any sewing skills from it. The details about various aspects of projects were incredible (Sandra Bardwell goes to great lengths to explain things like rouleau and applique - two aspects I never expected to see in this book and was intrigued to learn about even if I don't see myself doing either in the near future). Overall, this book has lots of information, but it is a bit over my head as a true sewing beginner.

Should have bought this book first

I have two machine sewing books, which are excellent, but they don't explain any hand sewing stitches which are used in patterns, but not explained in patterns or machine-only books. This book teaches it all, in very easy to understand language for the Beginner, and advanced enough for the Intermediate to Experienced sewer as well. Definitely a good first book in your soon to be growing library of sewing books.

The Good News Of Billy Graham

Patrick Doucette has written a very well researched book on the Reverend Billy Graham's classic sermons. The introduction provides a short history of Dr. Graham and then delivers 7 of his most famous sermons. If you've never heard Billy Graham preach and are looking to hear The Good News, check out this inspiring read.

Billy Graham has counseled presidents and kings. He has packed stadiums around the world with his heartfelt words and Southern Baptist fire. To hear his sermon is to truly hear the word of God. While you can no longer attend a true Billy Graham Crusade, (though you can hear his son Franklin), you can still be inspired by his teaching through this record of his most famous sermons.

Great for quiet meditation!

This book is great for quiet meditation or to read aloud with a group of individuals! There are 7 sermons in the book and the book is printed in larger size font. If you want to find out whether Billy Grahams books would be something you could get into or not, this is a great book to start with. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to gain insight into who God is and what our purpose is as Christians.

Provides More Clues About Rey

All in all, very skillfully written! Don't let the "for ages 6-8" turn you away if you're older, because it's simply understandable for those ages but not dumbed down for older readers. Rey is my favorite new character and I feel like I understand her even better now. Also, this book gives more small pieces of information about her past. It also contains several great illustrations. Worth a read!

Great version of TFA for kids

Well written, well paced, and overall much better take on TFA than the official novelization. The vocabulary is right on for kids and the details are things that really bring the world to life, especially the parts on Jakku. They should get Schaefer to write the novelization next time, but for now, I'm grateful we got this as well.

Summary: Quick, easy read that tells The Force Awakens from Rey's point of view.

Random Comments:
- They could have been a little more free with background details, but it's probably meant more as a re-telling for little kids than as an extrapolation of her character for true fans who'll track down anything with the Star Wars logo on it.
- It does have a few little gems of information and expands on a few points.
- It's well-written and has a nice balance of action and description.
- Hopefully, someday, they'll write a version that goes a little beyond the movie.

Conclusion: Rey's still a very cool character and this book does her justice.
