Feminism

I love this book because it contains the printed words of feminists from different parts of the world and different time periods. It will teach you about philosophy, history, and explores how culture, religion, and physical violence have been used to support and enforce male dominance for thousands of years. I got this book for my Humanities class, but I'm still reading it now because it has such interesting and valuable content.

It was in nice condition but a chunk of pages were missing pages 13-60 which is stupid because the book is now useless for me !!! Notice in my picture the page numbers are on the bottom. Beyond upset!!!!

About the Author
Betsy Hartmann writes nonfiction and fiction about important national and global challenges. Her forthcoming book The America Syndrome: Apocalypse, War and Our Call to Greatness reveals how end-times thinking profoundly influences American foreign policy, environmental politics and the persistence of injustice. She is also the co-author of A Quiet Violence: View from a Bangladesh Village and co-editor of the anthology Making Threats: Biofears and Environmental Anxieties. Her political thrillers The Truth About Fire and Deadly Election explore the threat the Far Right poses to American democracy. From 1988 until recently Betsy taught at Hampshire College where she directed the Population and Development Program. Frightening and revealing

The research is painstaking and relentlessly documented. Statistics and anecdotal evidence are interwoven flawlessly, bringing home the human reality and demonstrating the full scope of the problem. I recommend this book, without qualification, to everyone concerned with reproductive politics regardless of where they stand on the prolife/prochoice spectrum.

About the Author


Peter D. Thompson, PhD, is a licensed school psychologist and a long-time member of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). He has multiple advanced degrees in psychology and holds various leadership positions in the Douglas County School District, which is a district of more than 70 schools in Colorado. Dr. Thompson has extensive training in school neuropsychology, and is currently the school district's traumatic brain injury (TBI) team coordinator. He continues to lend his expertise to several organizations and agencies in the Denver metro area. In 2013, Dr. Thompson was named Colorado School Psychologist of the Year. Dr. Thompson authored the first edition of The School Psychology Licensure Exam Guide in 2004, which is now in its third iteration. He has also written chapters in Brain Injury in Children and Youth: A Manual for Educators (2016) and Concussion Management Guidelines Manual (2015), both published by the Colorado Department of Education.

The best single option available

First of all, this is a great guide for the School Psychology Praxis exam. It is very comprehensive and covers content in a very easy-to-study way. The practice tests are great too. Using this guide, I passed with a pretty good score.

However, be warned that the exam tests on a very large pool of material. For that reason, no one study source will "have it all." For example, you could internalize everything in this book and get blindsided by half the questions on the Praxis.

In my opinion, the Praxis covers a lot of stuff that you could be a master of and still be a terrible school psychologist. The test questions are pretty far off from gauging whether someone will be a knowledgeable professional. I could go on, but this isn't really the place...

Anyway, while this guide isn't an "end all, be all," it's still the best out there for all I know, and probably the closest you could get to a digestible guide without making your own. The author even recommends accessing your old psych texts and other materials you've probably received in your training program.

Great guide. Get it.

If you are planning to take the LEP license exam ...

If you are planning to take the LEP license exam, then this book is not the one which is for National School Psychology Test (Test code 0401). I happen to buy this book thinking that I was buying the one for LEP licensure exam. I wish the cover did not have the word, "licensure" because it is not. Now the content: The book has 170 pages with reference, and up to page 73 are content, and the remaining is a one practice test.

Great Praxis Prep Book!

For such a brief book, this guide is very thorough! While it doesn't contain every piece of information needed to pass the School Psychology Praxis, it does get you on track for how and what to study further. I was better able to narrow down what areas I needed to work on as well as what general information I needed know before taking the Praxis. It's practice tests are much better than those provided by the PASS book that is usually recommended. I definitely recommend using this book along with notes, prior class texts, and any practice tests you can get your hands on.

Rick Grossmann is co-founder and managing partner of My Franchise Hub (myfranchisehub.com). Mr. Grossmann has been involved in the franchise industry since 1994. He franchised his first company and grew to 49 franchised locations in 19 states during the mid to late 90’s. He served as the CEO and primary trainer focusing on franchisee relations and creating tools and technologies to increase franchisee success. Rick franchised his second company in 2003. He served as the company's CEO and Marketing Director. He developed the high tech/high touch franchise marketing and sales system selling over 150 franchises in North America capturing ranking in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 500 franchises in less than three years. Grossmann has also served as a business and marketing consultant to small companies and multimillion dollar enterprises. He also consulted Franchisees and prospective Franchisees, Franchisors, and companies seeking to become Franchisors. He was a co-author on the previous edition of Franchise Bible.

About the Author
Dr. Braja Das is Dean Emeritus of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at California State University, Sacramento. He received his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa and his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He is the author of a number of geotechnical engineering texts and reference books and more than 250 technical papers in the area of geotechnical engineering. His primary areas of research include shallow foundations, earth anchors, and geosynthetics. Dr. Das is a Fellow and Life Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Life Member of the American Society for Engineering Education, and an Emeritus Member of the Chemical and Mechanical Stabilization Committee of the Transportation Research Board of the National Research Council (Washington D.C.). He has received numerous awards for teaching excellence, including the AMOCO Foundation Award, the AT&T Award for Teaching Excellence from the American Society for Engineering Education, the Ralph Teetor Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers, and the Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching Excellence from the University of Texas at El Paso.

I recommend saving your money and stick with the 7th edition

The book came as advertised. No issues with seller, or delivery. However, this author is clearly just out to make money. There are several mistakes in this edition, that were not in the first edition. Answers in the back of the book are often incorrect, and several examples clearly evaluate to the wrong numerical value. I recommend saving your money and stick with the 7th edition.

this book is really great and it helps a lot when doing all high grades in this fields. I liked the previous edition but I also want to be updated so I just bought this wonderful book
